What's new in Gave It A Spin

New features, improvements, and fixes. When we publish a note, you'll also see it in the notification bell in the app.

  1. Logging partial spins now supported

Only made it through side A? Now you can log a spin with only the tracks you actually listened to.

Not every spin is the whole record. Sometimes you drop the needle on side B for one song, or the evening ends before you can make it to the other side. Your log can now say exactly that.

    Pick what you played

When you record a spin, a new Listened to row shows All tracks, so nothing changes if you played the whole thing. Open it to uncheck what you skipped, or tap a side to select or clear all of its tracks at once.

    See it on every card

A partial spin gets a small 3 of 5 tracks badge on your log, the release page, your profile, and your followers’ feeds. Tap it to see the tracks you played. Skipped tracks stay out of the way until you tap Show skipped, and then appear crossed out.

    Scrobbles match what you heard

If you scrobble to Last.fm, only the tracks you picked are sent, timed as if you’d played them back to back.

    Your history stays put

Every spin you logged before today counts as a full play. But now you can actually log when you listened to each disc of that 5 record set you found.

  2. Introducing Updates

A new home for what's changed in Gave It A Spin, with each note showing up in your notification bell.

We’re always tinkering with Gave It A Spin, and until now there wasn’t one place to see what changed. This page fixes that.

    What to expect

    • New notes land here whenever we ship something worth telling you about: new features, improvements, and notable fixes.
    • You’ll get a heads-up in the app. Each new note shows up in your notification bell, and tapping it brings you right back to this page.
    • Short and to the point. Notes cover what changed and why it matters for your listening log.

Thanks for spinning with us. If there’s something you’d like to see next, let us know.
